Additional Information

The Institute's symposium in Riverside, Prayer in the Church Fathers (23-24 February 2013) will be a weekend filled with no fewer than three lectures by Metropolitan Kallistos (Ware) -- one of the foremost voices for Orthodoxy in the English language and a man whose pastoral influence has been felt the world over, who held the Spalding Lectureship in Eastern Christian Studies at the University of Oxford for three decades and has written some of the seminal books on Orthodox history, theology, life and thought -- together with lectures by other eminent Orthodox scholars and pastors. Topics addressed in lectures will include prayer and creation; the Jesus Prayer in daily life; the Church Fathers on beginning a life of prayer; the remembrance of God; prayer in the Liturgy and with the Holy Icons; praying with the Psalter; and others.

Additionally, the Institute is hosting a special 'Evening with Metropolitan Kallistos' dinner event on the Saturday evening, in support of its endowment fund, at which Bishop Kallistos will offer yet another talk on the special topic, The Place of Humour in Orthodoxy, along side a fully catered meal and the opportunity to interact with our honored guest in a more intimate setting.

The full two-day program with six lectures, panel discussions, a bookstall, meals and materials, is being made available via advance on-line registration for only $80 (with the option of adding the special dinner event for an additional $60, contributing towards the Institute's future works) -- and we have additional discount options for Orthodox clergy, monastics, or one-day-only participants; as well as family discounts and the possibility of personal subsidies or scholarships if finances are particularly tight.

We hope to be able to welcome you personally to this wonderful event. Please find out more, including the full program and schedule, as well as a host of information about our speakers, their lectures, etc., on the web site at this link. Then, when you're ready to register, you can complete your registration on-line in a matter of minutes.

Please remember that registration is in advance (not at the door!), on-line, so act now to reserve yourself a place and take part in a wonderful occasion for Orthodox learning in southern California!
